Jairus’s daughter met Jesus.
After a series of unfortunate events, Jairus found himself in a perilous circumstance. Because of the severity of her illness, his daughter was on the verge of passing away. Therefore, he went to Jesus, confident that this extraordinary teacher had the power to cure his daughter’s illness.
It is reasonable to assume that Jesus’ ability to heal people was constrained by the realities of the world as we know it. But since we have put our faith in Jesus, we are no longer living in the “world as we know it.” We are now living in God’s heavenly kingdom! In the kingdom of God, there is plenty of good things to go around for everyone, and at the heart of it all are the healing power and love of Jesus. Jesus cannot be stopped by anything, not even death. And Jesus brought the young woman back from the dead, giving her a new lease on life, just as he gives us a new lease on life.
God, I praise you for the mighty power that you have to resurrect us and give us new life. I give you praise for the fact that Jesus is more powerful than death, and I give you praise for the gifts of new life that he has given to all people, including myself. Amen.
