TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

God’s grace and power are accessible to us

Fear

In great fear and distress Jacob divided the people who were with him into two groups, and the flocks and herds and camels as well.

—  Genesis 32:7

Our lives can be significantly impacted by fear. Jacob had spent the majority of his life trying to portray himself as someone in charge, someone who could handle any challenging circumstance. The fact that he handled his recent awkward encounter with Laban so well might lead us to believe that he would have felt confident in his skills.

When we are faced with an uncontrollable circumstance, we become aware that we cannot protect ourselves from our greatest fears. We can’t keep up with maintaining our health. We are unable to restore our good name. We can’t make our tense relationships better. We cannot make up for our sins on our own. Only the grace and power of God are available to us.

Have you attained the level of fervent pleading? The power of God’s grace in Christ is far greater than the power of fear. God be praised for his amazing grace!

Prayer:

God the gracious, I am unworthy of your kindness and faithfulness. Thank you, Lord, and deliver me. I only put my faith in you because of Jesus. Amen.
