TODAY’S DAILY DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE

Working Relationship

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.

—  Ephesians 5:21

Paul advises that in your interpersonal interactions, you should think like Christ Jesus. Christ humbled himself and forsook his heavenly glory to take on our humanity. Because of this, Christ is able to “understand our weaknesses” because he “has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin” (Hebrews 4:15). We can approach the Lord “with confidence” to “receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need” because he is aware of how we feel in various relationships (Hebrews 4:16).

In order for a relationship to succeed, both parties must emulate Jesus by putting themselves in each other’s shoes. Are we prepared to defer to others and humble ourselves “out of reverence for Christ”?

Prayer:

Father, guide us to develop wholesome relationships the way Christ did. Lord, be our mediator and extend to us more patience in times of conflict. We pray in the stead of Christ. Amen.
