When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.
— Mark 5:6
Have any of your hopes and dreams been dashed by reality or circumstances? Have you ever considered hurting yourself because the pain you’re experiencing on the inside is so severe? Have members of your community offered assistance, only to impose limitations on you in some way?
Jesus came to help this man, and it is clear from his actions that even a Gentile madman was important to him. The message can be understood. Jesus is concerned about us even though we are in the midst of chaos, and he is ready to bring healing. Jesus cares about each one of us! Everyone does!
This man, who was overrun with evil spirits, was able to see Jesus approaching. “He ran up to him and immediately got down on his knees in front of him.” No one can be prevented from coming to Jesus by feelings of disgrace, impureness, guilt, or uncleanliness.
Jesus was the one who helped him, and He told the impure spirit, “Come out of this man!” And with that, the man was set free and brought back to his senses. Has Jesus delivered you from the insanity that comes from being controlled by sin? Run to him today!
Prayer:
Jesus, we thank you for the way you have drawn us to yourself and given us hope despite the fact that we have sinned. We are grateful to you for granting us our independence. Amen.
