Nothing can ever come between us and the love he has for us
He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life.”
In the chapter of 1 Kings 19, the great prophet Elijah is described as being in the desert. He had reached a point where there was no way out for him. Elijah prayed to God as he turned from this place of emptiness and depression in which he found himself. He did not end his own life by taking his own life, but instead he prayed to God to end his life for him.
However, while he was there, God made his presence known to him and sent an angel to assist him. Elijah got the nourishment and rest that he so desperately needed, and then, once he was ready, he set out on his journey to the mountain of God, which took him forty days. There, God showed Elijah some additional plans that he had in store for him.
There are times when we may feel as though we have exhausted all of our options. It is essential for us to seek God’s face whenever we are confronted with difficulties in life. He is the only one who can give us hope and show us the way. Nothing can ever come between us and the love he has for us. Nothing!
Father, we are heartbroken over the countless lives that have been lost and the hopeless situations that exist in this world. We are starving for some direction from you. Please provide it. We ask that you make your will known to us through the power of the Holy Spirit and the teachings of the Bible. Amen.
